goofing off

I found this at Monitor Mix - link in next post. I love the drums in both of these songs. fun stuff. I wonder how the general public viewed this kind of thing when it was made?

Just curious about the general public comment...are you talking about the words to the song? As part of that general public at that time, there were lots of nonsense songs with a good beat, many songs with "dance instructions" and just fun stuff. I don't remember hearing that particular song, but it still has a good beat, makes me want to move!

You've inspired me to look at You Tube, and now I've found all kinds of those old clips...Mashed Potato, Chubby Checker and the Twist, Elvis and Jailhouse Rock. I could work up an whole aerobics routine with these. Thanks! But enough of this "goofing off."

Hi Sherri,

When I thought about the general public reaction to this song, I guess I was trying to compare it to something that's popular today. Popular music has always kind of pushed the envelope - did this ever seem to anyone like it went too far, like today many people think music videos go too far, are too sexual. This music by comparison seems so sweet and fun, but did it ever seem like it went "too far". (I'm 32, so a little rebellious and riske has been the norm for my entire life.) Back to work!
